Retirement: Take care, Boortzi!

It’s now official: a long-serving member of staff at the Holsteiner Verband is retiring. We’re talking about Monika Boortz – also known by her nickname ‘Boortzi’.

In May 1977, the then managing director, Maas Johannes Hell, initially hired her to work at reception, man the switchboard and manage the membership records. After maternity leave, Monika Boortz returned to the Association in June 1993 – and has remained there ever since. “I never saw it as a job, but always as my second family, and it’s not easy for me to leave them now. I’m grateful to have got to know and appreciate so many people. These include my line managers, colleagues, the Executive Board, clients, breeders, members and those who speak Low German! I would like to thank them all from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful years I’ve spent at the Holsteiner Verband, and I’ll be saying goodbye on 30 June!”

At the Holsteiner Horse Days, Managing Director Sebastian Rohde thanked Monika Boortz on behalf of the entire team
