Holsteiner of the Month: Bull Run’s Jireh

A horse that took second place in the 2025 WBFSH rankings continues to go from strength to strength. We’re talking about Bull Run’s Jireh, the Holsteiner of the Month for March.

The son of Uriko Colman was born in 2014 at Timm Peters’ stud in Bargenstedt. Under the name Uno, this representative of the 890 line enjoyed his first competition successes in Germany. In the saddle was Lena Glisic. She developed him up to advanced level before he moved to the USA a few years ago to join Kristen Vanderveen. The rider achieved her big breakthrough with the Holsteiner; they competed in last year’s World Cup Final in Basel (SUI) and have since established themselves at the 1.60-metre level. They recently won a 1.55-metre show jumping competition in Doha (QAT) and finished fifth in the five-star Grand Prix, which had a prize fund of 650,000 euros.

“He’s a very special horse,” says Kristen Vanderveen of her Holsteiner. “To be honest, he’s one of the most talented horses I’ve ever had the privilege of riding. I haven’t found a single fault with him yet. He loves his work, he’s fast, he’s careful, but he’s also extremely brave. And as a rider, it’s something very special to ride a horse like him. It gives you the greatest self-confidence in the world.”

As is so often the case in Holsteiner breeding, the apple doesn’t fall far from the proverbial tree with Bull Run’s Jireh either. His dam, Conella, who passed away far too young, is the dam of several stallions, including Jireh’s full brother, Uno I, who is based at the Marbach State Stud. And of Bambam du Rouet P by Baloubet du Rouet.
