Flood disaster: FN calls for donations to help those in the equestrian community

Drowned horses, destroyed stables, washed-away riding arenas, unusable pastures, ruined hay harvests: among the victims of the flood disaster are many people in the equestrian community who have lost their homes and livelihoods. Money is needed for the reconstruction. The equestrian and breeding associations in the flood-affected areas, together with the German Equestrian Federation (FN), have set up a donation account to raise funds for the affected riding, driving and vaulting clubs, as well as breeding and equestrian businesses: Every contribution helps – simply transfer your donation to the account of the German Equestrian Federation (FN), IBAN DE23 4126 2501 0006 2228 03 at Volksbank eG. The bank statement serves as a receipt for your donation.
The fire service, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief, the Red Cross and the German Armed Forces have been working for days to save lives, provide assistance to those affected, clear away mud and rubble, and repair the infrastructure destroyed by the floods to the extent that the affected areas can be reached again at all. There is a great deal of willingness to help. Thanks to support from neighbours near and far, homeless horses have been rehoused and other donations in kind have been distributed. “One thing is clear from the images and reports coming out of the flood-hit areas: clearing up the aftermath of this flood disaster will require a great deal of perseverance,” says Hans-Joachim Erbel, President of the German Equestrian Federation (FN). “It will also require sustained financial support. That is why we have set up this donation account.” The main aim is to help bridge the financial gaps not covered by insurance or government financial aid. The FN and the affected associations are setting up a committee to distribute the donations according to need.
