Eventing horses from the ‘Land between the Seas’ have been attracting attention for some time now. However, they were particularly successful at this year’s European Championships in Avenches (SUI). One Holsteiner in particular caused a sensation there: JL Dublin by Diarado-Canto (Volker Göttsche-Götze, Groß Buchwald), ridden by the British rider Nicola Wilson, took home two gold medals. Both in the individual classification and with the team, the former Holsteiner Elite Auction horse – which Francesa Pollara once purchased at auction in Neumünster from the 1907 line – proved unbeatable.
Michael Jung and fischerWild Wave by Water Dance xx-Acobat II (ZG Marks and Muffels, Siethwende) narrowly missed out on a medal in the individual competition – by just 0.3 points. Nevertheless, the Holsteiner – who was making his championship debut at the age of nine – and his rider did win a medal: as the best German pair, they celebrated the silver medal alongside their team-mates. Incidentally, the gelding from line 6879 also began his career in Neumünster – at the auction for unlicenced stallions.
Furthermore, Charly Brown , a son of Cardenio-Heraldik xx, competed for the Swedish team, which won the bronze medal. Malin Petersen rode the eleven-year-old gelding, bred by Susanne Ahme from Malente.
And that’s not all: two further Holsteiners followed in seventh and eighth place. We are talking about Carjatan S by Clearway-Galant Vert xx (Carl-Friedrich Söhrmann, Groß Buchwald), ridden by the German individual rider Christoph Wahler, and Cartania by Cartani-Clinton (Günter Koch, Vollerwieck). The mare, who competed for the Swiss team with Felix Vogg, was also discovered in Neumünster. All five horses left no doubt as to their pedigree when they all completed the final show jumping round without any faults.
