A characterful HV at a top price

Her sire is one of the up-and-coming younger Holsteiner Association stallions, and her dam line, number 275, is renowned and highly regarded far beyond the borders of Schleswig-Holstein. We are talking about Tilda by Charaktervoll-Larimar. Tilda’s second dam, Toulouse by Quick Star, is the dam of Zeremonie, who won the team gold medal at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon with Laura Kraut (USA). The filly, bred by Heinrich Horstmann (Jerrishoe), emerged as the top-priced horse at the Holsteiner Elite Foal Auction. Following a thrilling bidding war, the filly changed hands for 19,000 euros.

No fewer than two foals were sold for 18,000 euros. One was the Balou de Couleur by Baloutaire–Cascadello I, bred by Torsten Münster (Appen). This prospective stallion from line 95 will remain in Germany. The other was Unique Legend by United Way–Arezzo from line 2137. Hartwig Schoof (Hedwigenkoog) was responsible for this mating as the breeder. Tristana by Clarimo–Casall (Stefan Zuba, Wesselburen) from line 18A2 also went for 16,500 euros.

“The offspring of both younger and established sires have attracted a great deal of interest today. And we are very satisfied with the 87 per cent sale rate,” said auctioneer Felix Flinzer, summarising the outcome of the auction. 49 foals were sold at the Herbert-Blöcker-Platz. Buyers spent an average of 9,000 euros per bid.
