The Holsteiner Verband’s auction year drew to a close today with the fourth Winter-Chance auction. Set against the backdrop of a successful programme of events – including the presentation of several Association stallions, a charity craft competition, a Christmas tree sale and plenty of pre-Christmas atmosphere – 34 Holsteiners were put up for auction.
The top price was achieved by catalogue number 3, Kalima by Brantzau-Lasino from line 5819. Buyers from Colombia secured this five-year-old mare, who has already enjoyed success in show jumping classes up to Class L, for 86,000 euros. This top show jumper will continue her career under the guidance of the Colombian Nations Cup rider Santiago Medina. Another five-year-old mare was the second most expensive horse. Dicalza b, the Dinken-Caretino daughter from line 7020, was sold for 52,000 euros and is now setting off on her journey to Peru. The seven-year-old Hailey v.A. by Nekton-Lorentin does not have quite such a long journey ahead of her. Following a lengthy bidding war, buyers from Westphalia were ultimately delighted to secure her for 46,000 euros. Alongside buyers from all over Germany, customers from South America, the USA, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Denmark, Italy and the Netherlands secured their promising young Holsteiners. On average, they paid just under 20,000 euros for them.
“I am very pleased with the result of this auction. In particular, the horses that had already been ridden, which achieved an average price of almost 30,000 euros, were highly sought after by buyers. Furthermore, we were able to provide a valuable service to numerous breeders and exhibitors by selling their still-untrained horses.
