Holsteiner Horse Days: Today is auction day!

Seeing the best horses of their year, strolling around, having a natter – all this will once again be possible for around 250 spectators at the Holsteiner Horse Days in Elmshorn from 10 to 13 June 2021. What’s more, on Saturday 12 June, Holsteiner enthusiasts could leave the association’s grounds in Elmshorn – or the online portal holsteiner.auction – as the new owners of a carefully selected foal from the hybrid auction. This is because, on Saturday evening from 7 pm, 27 lots featuring top-class genetics will go under the hammer.

These are offspring of stallions that have proven themselves both in sport and in breeding, such as Casall, Cascadello I and Million Dollar, as well as up-and-coming young stallions such as Cahil, Charaktervoll, Keaton and Cornet’s Quaprice, for example. Dressage fans and riders will also find plenty to enjoy in the collection selected by Head of Marketing Roland Metz and his team: three promising young horses with excellent movement, set for a career in the dressage arena, are coming up for auction. They are by Franziskus and Fidano. “In Holstein, our breeders have for decades placed great emphasis on the care and rigorous selection of mares, so that many of the dams have demonstrated high performance over generations,” explains Roland Metz. Take, for example, catalogue number 4, Ultimo by Uriko-Cassini I. His second dam, Fair Lady by Lord, produced several sport horses successful internationally up to 1.60 metres, whilst his dam, Utah, was herself placed up to 1.30 metres. Catalogue number 11, Caretana by Cornet’s Quaprice–Caretino, also comes from an outstanding mare line. Her dam, N-Caretana BB, won ribbons at 1.50-metre level herself; her second dam, Bravo, produced a licensed son, Caretano Z, and, via O-Contendra, the dam of the equally licensed Chaka Chaka (Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann), who recently won the Balve Championship. The pedigree records of the auction candidates can be viewed up to the fourth generation at holsteiner.auction.

The lots in the hybrid auction will make their first public appearance at 12.30 pm on 12 June at Herbert-Blöcker-Platz in Elmshorn, before the auction begins at 7.00 pm. All information on the 27 candidates is available on the holsteiner.auction portal, where bids can be placed until the end of the auction. Until then, if you have any questions regarding the auction, please contact Roland Metz (+49 171 4364 651) or Alexandra Bitter (+49 170 3825465).

Hybrid auction – how does it work?
The auction of high-quality foals during the Pferdetage has already become an established event and has proven to be a valuable marketing platform in the past. As in 2020, Managing Director and Auction Manager Roland Metz and his team have opted for a hybrid-format auction. This means that interested parties can bid both in person at the venue and online or by telephone. You can watch this video to see exactly how a hybrid auction at the Holsteiner Verband works.

How to gain entry
Under current state regulations, 250 spectators are permitted on the Holsteiner Verband’s grounds in Elmshorn (Westerstraße 93) at any one time, outdoors.
