The fourth weekend in August is all about Holsteiner foals. On 21 August, the major Elite Foal Auction takes place in Elmshorn, followed just one day later by an open sales day organised by the Holsteiner Young Breeders’ Association. However, this time it will not be held at the Association’s grounds in Elmshorn, but as part of the show jumping competition in Schnarup-Thumby.
“We have decided to hold the sales day at Mike Patrick Leichle’s show jumping competition,” explains Roland Metz, Managing Director of the Holsteiner Verband. “Closely linking breeding and sport offers – in my opinion – numerous synergies that we do not want to leave untapped.” As this year’s Elite Foal Auction will take place without a sporting programme due to several COVID-19-related scheduling clashes in the breeding and sporting calendars, Roland Metz is particularly pleased that such an interesting platform as the Leichle family’s show has been secured for the foal sales day.
Members of the Holsteiner Verband have until 12 August to register their foals for sale on 22 August in Schnarup-Thumby. The list of lots will be published shortly before the event at www.holsteiner-verband.de, along with the terms and conditions for buyers.
