The 35th Holsteiner Spring Auction concluded with an average price of almost 20,000 euros and a sell-rate of over 80 per cent. The top price was achieved by a daughter of Casall, and almost half of the horses were sold abroad.
The collection comprised 38 lots, including Holsteiners from all disciplines. The longest bidding war took place over catalogue number 25, a daughter of Casall out of a Nekton-Lord dam. A renowned show jumping stable from Canada secured the talented mare. Chimchimeny, as the five-year-old mare is named, was bred by Hans-Joachim Gerken (Hammoor) and presented by b-Horses GmbH, Eckernförde. The virtual hammer fell at 57,500 euros. The second most expensive horse at the online auction also came from b-Horses GmbH. This was Quilea by Quibery-Clarimo-Contago, bred by Lasse Ohlsen (Oevnum/Föhr). The four-year-old mare descends from the direct dam line of the former Holsteiner Champion Stallion Quveè Prestige, the also licensed Casquido, and thus the famous line 18A2. International show jumper Holger Wulschner valued this promising young talent at 43,500 euros. “We have a fruitful partnership with b-Horses GmbH, which represents a win-win situation for both the Holsteiner Verband and b-Horses,” said Managing Director Roland Metz following the auction.
Proven genetics in high demand
Four further horses fetched 30,000 euros or more. One of these was Jamira, who has already placed in show jumping competitions: An exclusive trading stable from the USA, active in the hunter sport sector, paid 32,500 euros for the Diarado-Calato-Cascavelle daughter (Hans-Nico Petersen, Behrendorf). Corino by Casall-Cassini I-Libertino will be joining her at the same stable. This four-year-old was presented by breeder Uwe Pahl from Dägeling and sold for exactly 30,000 euros. New customers from Germany paid 30,500 euros for the four-year-old Quiarado by Diarado-Quintero-Carolus (Hans Groth, Friedrichskoog). Coretto, a son of Cornet Obolenksy-Corrado I-Almoretto, bred by Reinhold Distel from Wächtersbach and presented by Frank Plock from Borken, also cost 30,000 euros. The four-year-old gelding comes from one of Holstein’s finest bloodlines, namely line number 162. The only dressage prospect, Sullivan – a three-year-old son of Secret-Lorentin-Coriander (ZG Sudeck, Uetersen) – was sold for 25,000 euros to a dressage stable in Hamburg. “We are very satisfied with a sales rate of 80 per cent. All in all, we have achieved a very consistent auction result, which shows that we were able to satisfy many exhibitors and customers – including many competitive stables abroad,” concluded Roland Metz.
