Following the resounding start to the 2023 Holsteiner foal auctions at the German Derby in Hamburg, the next highlight on the auction calendar is already approaching: On 10 June, 21 foals will find new owners during the Holsteiner Horse Days featuring the state championships and the association mare show in Elmshorn.
And the collection is certainly impressive – the candidates represent highly interesting genetics in terms of breeding and sport. For instance, catalogue number 1, Cappuccino by Cahil-Untouchable. The granddam of this colt produced several top-level successful sport horses – including Oak Grove’s Carlyle by Casall, who won the grand prix in Rotterdam, Valkenswaard (NED) and the Nations Cup in Vancouver (CAN) with Daniel Coyle (IRL). The performance record of mares has increasingly come into focus for breeders in recent years, and catalogue number 2, a filly by Crack-Casall named Rosalie, can also boast a dam with successes in 1.50 metre show jumping classes under Clarissa Crotta (CHE) in Canadia I.Z. With Chirico (catalogue number 11), another offspring of Crack out of a Del’ Arko d’Henvet dam is entering the auction ring: This stallion is directly related to the World Championship and World Cup horse Quno by Quo Vados I, the top horse of young Swiss rider Edouard Schmitz. Two dressage-focused foals enrich the lot: Catalogue number 15 named Gucci, sired by World Champion Glamourdale (Charlotte Fry/GBR) out of a Zhivago dam, and catalogue number 16, Idol by Infantino, out of a Borsalino dam and further back linked to the star sire Fürstenball. The auction will be held in a hybrid format on Saturday, 10 June 2023, at 16:30 at the Herbert Blöcker arena. Prior to this, the foals will present themselves live for the first time at 13:00.
