At the foal auction, which was held in a hybrid format (i.e. live on site, by telephone and via the online portal), 27 high-quality promising young horses went under the hammer. Auctioneer Hendrik Schulze-Rückamp awarded catalogue number 1 – the most expensive foal – to a German buyer for a bid of 14,500 euros. This is the colt Carossa by Cascadello I-Coronado, whose dam, Patschuli, was herself successful in show jumping up to 1.55 metres. The second-highest bid was for catalogue number 4, Ultimo by Uriko-Cassini I. He is heading to the USA for 13,500 euros. Six foals fetched 10,000 euros or more, with the average price standing at around 7,800 euros. “Foals from mare lines with a strong track record were in high demand,” said Head of Marketing Roland Metz afterwards. “Many customers were enthusiastic about the interesting Holstein performance lines,” Metz continued.
