On Saturday 21 August, the 64 auction candidates at the Holsteiner Elite Foal Auction will make the first major appearance of their lives: Once they have passed the veterinary check in the morning, they will be presented to the public on Herbert-Blöcker-Platz from 1.30 pm, before the hybrid auction begins at 5.00 pm.
“Fortunately, thanks to the current state regulations, there are no restrictions on the event, so anyone interested is welcome to come to Elmshorn,” says auction director Roland Metz. The only requirement is to register using the Luca app at the entrance. “Refreshments will be provided, so we can look forward to an interesting afternoon featuring top-class foals,” Metz continues. “Anyone unable to travel to Elmshorn can also bid via the online portal holsteiner.auction or by telephone, thanks to the hybrid system.” The presentation will also be broadcast live via ClipMyHorse.tv.
And it’s well worth taking a closer look at the candidates! This is demonstrated not only by the recent success stories of former auction candidates, such as the newly crowned Bundeschampioness of five-year-old cross-country horses, Lillet by Livello-Calido I with Andreas Dibowski, but also the pedigrees and the performance records of the closely related horses among this year’s strictly selected foals: The foals are sired by stallions such as Casall, Clarimo and Crack, as well as Vingino, Cornet Obolensky, Quel Homme de Hus and Mumbai van de Moerhoeve, and are also genetically well-backed on the dam’s side. Take, for example, catalogue number 34, Töfte by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve-Caretino. The dam of this colt was herself successful in show jumping up to 1.45 metres, and the granddam produced several international show jumpers such as Online (Takashi Haase), Pikeur Cleveland (Michael Symmangk) and Crook (Vladimir Malak). For fans of the Holstein show jumper, Roland Metz and his team have included four promising foals in the lot. For example, catalogue number 22, Bella Donna by Benicio-Dolany, has Mira G – who is wildly celebrated in Holstein – as her second dam; her daughter Annabelle was listed as a reserve for the German team for the Tokyo Olympics under Helen Langehanenberg. Mira G is also the dam of the licensed stallions De Chirico by Dolany and Amber by Ampère.
