A total of 17 precious straws of frozen semen from sires in high demand internationally are set to go under the hammer at Holstein’s treasure trove, with the auction entering its most exciting phase today at 6 pm with the ‘Bid-Up’.
Very little semen remains from most of these stallions; all of them are something of a legend thanks to their successes in sport and breeding. Among them are Olympic participants and World Cup winners, championship heroes and show jumpers of international calibre: Baloubet du Rouet, Caletto I, Carthago, Cassini I, Limbus, Concerto II and Contender are just some of the stallions whose genetics can now be secured. There are also two straws from the highly sought-after Cor de la Bryère.
