Felix Flinzer, Managing Director of Holsteiner Verband Vermarktungs- und Auktions GmbH, had come up with something very special for this year’s auction of the elite foals from the 2023 crop: Set against a backdrop of concerts by Stefan Mross, Marc Terenzi and Safiya, 62 promising young horses were put up for auction. ‘Auction ‘n’ Concert’ created a lively atmosphere at the Elmshorn racecourse and Herbert-Blöcker-Platz.
Catalogue number 41 was sold for the top price. This foal is a daughter of the former Holsteiner Champion Stallion Esmeraldo, out of a dam by the legendary Cor de la Bryère-Quidam de Revel. Philipp Schwartz-Hafter from Hochdonn is the breeder and exhibitor of the chestnut mare, which was sold for 23,000 euros to buyers from Saxony. Catalogue number 51, Quel Cherie by Quel Homme de Hus–Contendro I–Claudio, from the Haß & Wencke Haß breeding partnership in Herzhorn, changed hands to a French owner for 21,000 euros. The athletic-looking filly from line 890 also impressed with her highly successful bloodline, including, for example, C.T. by Casall (Hugo Simon/Tina Deuerer) and Castilly by Casall (Thomas Brandt). Catalogue number 13 also attracted a great deal of interest. This is a daughter of Cascadello I out of Zirocco Blue-Colman, from line 730B (Michael Peters, Wöhrden). Rascadella Blue – as the charming chestnut mare is named – went for 18,000 euros. An impressive stallion prospect by Diamant de Semilly-Balou du Rouet-Casall from line 749 (Sören Brühe, Seeth-Ekholt) was secured by buyers from Schleswig-Holstein for 17,000 euros under catalogue number 31, Dark Diamond.
“We experienced an auction today under difficult conditions. The weather wasn’t on our side at times. That is why I am all the more grateful that many clients stayed until the end, enabling many lots in the final third to be sold at good prices and allowing us to achieve a good sales rate,” summarised Felix Flinzer. On average, a foal cost 9,816 euros.
