Under the title “Auction ‘n Concert”, the Holsteiner Verband held its elite foal auction in Elmshorn. And it wasn’t just the party band Tonados that caused quite a stir in the arena: a son of Clarimo out of a Clarcon dam took the hearts of buyers from the USA by storm and was sold for a top price of 67,000 euros.
The stallion (catalogue number 10) was bred by Wolfgang Lorenzen (Bramstedtlund) and represents line 1859. “I never would have expected this result – I’m speechless,” said the visibly moved breeder after the auction. “I have two mares and last year I invested in my breeding programme by selecting Clarimo. It has definitely paid off,” said the pensioner, who has been breeding for 50 years but, by his own account, has never before experienced such a sense of achievement. “When the hammer fell, I felt as though I were in another world.” The second-highest bid went to Suriname, a filly with catalogue number 22 by Duplexx-Contender (Wolfgang Braun, Beilngries), line 776. She was valued at 16,000 euros by buyers from Germany. Two foals were sold for 15,000 euros: one was catalogue number 23, Sweet Edition by Duplexx-Uriko (Torben Mölleken, Heidmühlen), line 429. The other was catalogue number 39, Sansiba by United Way-Clarimo (Hof Thiedemann GbR, Oesterwurth), line 2543.
Ten further foals were sold for 10,000 euros or more. On average, the foals cost around 11,525 euros. “We are very pleased with this record-breaking top price,” says auctioneer Felix Flinzer. “I would like to thank our breeders once again for their trust, and also Sebastian Rohde for his active support in marketing several foals to the USA.”
