Twelve foals, seven riding horses and one embryo made up the collection at the 2nd Holsteiner Highlight Sales@Springflutfestival in Hörup yesterday evening. All the lots came from renowned Holsteiner studs and boast the finest pedigrees. Buyers from Germany, Denmark and the USA were keen not to miss this opportunity. Consequently, the top lot, Heroika HaS by Baloubet du Rouet–Casall, was purchased by a German-Danish consortium and will continue her training under the saddle of Teike Carstensen. The seven-year-old was sold online for 140,000 euros. The second-most expensive lot was Comme un Reve by Comme il Faut, which show jumper Holger Wulschner secured for 51,000 euros. The third most expensive riding horse cost exactly 50,000 euros. This is a stallion named Milas, who has already been licensed in Mecklenburg. His sire is Million Dollar, and his dam is a Casall mare. He will be based in the USA in future. On average, buyers spent just under 51,000 euros on a riding horse.
A real rarity – and one that the buyers certainly appreciated – topped the prices for the foal lot. Auctioneer Hendrik Schulze-Rückamp secured this son of Caretino and Million Dollar for 24,000 euros following a thrilling bidding war on the spot. This prospective stallion will remain in Schleswig-Holstein. Buyers at the auction also paid 15,000 euros for a Clarimo-Casiro daughter. And the hammer fell at 12,500 euros for another Clarimo daughter, this time out of a Casall dam. Furthermore, a son of the legendary Diamant de Semilly-Kannan attracted a great deal of interest and was sold to the USA for 14,000 euros. The auction of the embryo by Cornet Obolensky out of the full sister to the association stallion Million Dollar was eagerly anticipated – a first in Schleswig-Holstein, incidentally. In the end, buyers from Germany secured the already implanted embryo for 26,200 euros. On average, the foals and the embryo cost a good 12,220 euros.
