Last night, the audience, breeders and exhibitors were treated to a very special auction at Hof Waterkant, run by Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and Christoph Zimmermann. As part of their CSI4* event – currently the only one of its kind in Schleswig-Holstein – 14 top-class foals and three high-calibre embryos were put up for sale. The clients clearly appreciated this and bid enthusiastically in a wonderful atmosphere.
No fewer than three foals were sold for over 30,000 euros. Catalogue number 1, Pina Tobaga by Emerald van’t Ruytershof–Mr. Blue, immediately emerged as the top price-getter. Belgian patrons secured the half-sister to Daniel Deusser’s Tobago Z for 35,000 euros. Hendrik Schulze-Rückamp brought the hammer down at 34,000 euros for Jaspers Way by Jasper-Carinjo, from the famous Holstein line 1916. This prospective stallion traces back to the famous Lord mare Wodka. Approved stallions such as Clearway, Uricas van de Kattevennen (Harrie Smolders), Chika’s Way (Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann) and the Derby winner Carrassina (Thomas Kleis) all come from this direct dam line. Customers from Denmark snapped up this striking foal. The third in the trio, which cost more than 30,000 euros, is catalogue number 10, Exklusive by Emerald van’t Ruytershof out of Quidam de Revel from line 741. VDL Cartello – due to compete for Ireland in Herning next week – and VDL Cardento are among the offspring of this special dam line. This colt cost 32,000 euros. On average, a foal cost 20,071 euros. The three embryos also attracted considerable interest from customers. They cost an average of just over 35,600 euros. As expected, the most expensive was the full brother or full sister to Christian Kukuk’s sport partner Mumbai. The embryo, which had already been transferred, was sold for 59,000 euros.
“We had a wonderful evening at Hof Waterkant,” said Head of Marketing Roland Metz, summing up the event with satisfaction. “An incredible number of new clients were successful last night, and it is particularly pleasing that three foals sold for over 30,000 euros and not a single one for less than 10,000 euros,” Metz continued. Stud farms from Germany and abroad, as well as numerous international riders, showed interest in the foals, whilst the embryos attracted a great deal of interest, particularly from overseas. “The result of the embryo auction was phenomenal.” Equally phenomenal were the proceeds from the charity campaign: To kick off the evening, an artistic horse sculpture designed by Udo Lindenberg was auctioned off for 100,000 euros in aid of Welthungerhilfe. “I am delighted that, through this platform, we were able to make a small contribution to a good cause,” explained Roland Metz.
