Over the past two weeks, 21 Holstein mares were assessed at this year’s second station test in Elmshorn. Twenty of them were three-year-olds; for the first time, a four-year-old was also entered for the 14-day test, which concluded today with a final assessment.

During the training period from 28 April to 12 May, the horses were further trained by a competent team of riders and trainers led by Alexandra Bitter, until today when the judging panel consisting of Peter Rauert and Heino Kracht conducted the final test. In addition to the assessment of the basic gaits, rideability and free jumping, the test also included an evaluation of temperament, which is summarised as a mark for the characteristic ‘willingness to perform and handling’. Harm David acted as the guest rider. 

Sixteen mares achieved an overall mark of 8.0 or higher. A daughter of Balous Bellini finished this station test with the top score of 8.98. Daughters of Origi d’O (8.73), Catch (8.75), Calido I (8.63) and Central Park (8.45) also scored well. A mare by Cascadello I also received an overall score of 8.43. The overall result for a mare sired by Casaltino was 8.38; a daughter of Casall was ranked with a score of 8.28, followed by a mare by Damon. Another mare by Casall achieved a final score of 8.23. Two mares were awarded a final score of 8.18: a daughter of Denton and one by Lord Z. A mare by Clarksville left the Fritz-Thiedemann-Halle with a score of 8.15, followed by two daughters of Million Dollar with scores of 8.13 and 8.08. Rounding off the line-up of 16 mares with an overall mark of 8.0 or better was a tested mare by Unlimited, who received an 8.05 from the judges.
