WBFSH Sire Ranking 2020: Diarado in the top 10 in two disciplines

At the end of every competitive season, the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) publishes rankings that provide an insight into the most successful stallions and studbooks, as well as their breeders. Once again, it is the Holsteiner stallion Diarado by Diamant de Semilly-Corrado I (Klaus Thingholm Kristensen, Denmark) who features in the top 10 stallions. This year, however, the 2007 Holsteiner Stallion of the Year has not only made it to the top as a show jumping sire, but also in the eventing rankings – coming in second place!
In general, Holstein stallions have performed very well as sires in eventing. Four of the top ten sires bear the Holstein brand. Alongside Diarado in second place, these are Contendro I by Contender-Reichsgraf (Manfred Birchler, Switzerland) in fourth place, as well as Mighty Magic xx by Mytens xx-Heraldik xx (Horst Henning Lienau, Haselau) and Landos by Lord-Calypso I (Heiko Büttner, Schafstedt) in ninth and tenth places respectively.

There are also four Holstein stallions among the top ten in the show jumping stallion rankings. In fifth place, Casall by Caretino-Lavall I (Wilfried Thomann, Drelsdorf) is the highest-ranked Holstein on the list. He is followed by Berlin (Caspar) by Cassini I-Caretino (Josef Unkelbach, Cologne) in sixth place and Cardento by Capitol I-Lord (Reimer Witt, Norderwöhrden) in eighth place. Diarado takes tenth place.
