The Warendorf National Championships are gathering pace, and on the Saturday of the event the first final classes were held and places in Sunday’s finals were allocated. Holstein secured a silver medal!

Seven-year-old show jumpers
With rock-solid performances in all three rounds and a lightning-fast run in the jump-off of the final, Greece by Mylord Carthago-Quinar (Margit Petersen, Sollwittfeld), line 3401, and Teike Carstensen secured the silver medal in the National Championships for seven-year-old show jumpers. Two seventh-place finishes in the qualifiers had paved the way for their triumph in the S**-level competition, in which only four of the 37 pairs had made it through to the jump-off.

Six-year-old dressage horses
Following his outstanding second place in the qualifier, Quiraz ABN by Quaterback-Carpaccio (Anja Nygaard), line 2290, and Markus von Holdt progressed directly to the final of the top 18 horses. Here, the pair received consistently good marks and an overall score of 8.0, which ultimately secured them sixth place. Quiraz came into the ownership of Niclas von Holdt via the Holsteiner Foal Auction and then via the auction of licensed stallions, and has already been crowned Vice-State Champion in Elmshorn this season.

Six-year-old show jumpers
The second qualifier for six-year-old young horses on the course was to secure a place in Sunday’s final. The best Holsteiner was Cashtender, who finished third in the first division – having already come third in the first qualifier. This son of Casall-Contender (Lvp-Stables, Ghent), line 6879, was ridden by Frederic Tillmann. In fourth place came Catalina by Cachas-Lasino (Norbert Carl Schmalbach, Steinburg), line 18B1, with Sophie Hinners in the saddle. Clariquada T by Clarimo-Coronado (Manfred Tummes, Mühlheim), line 4539, and Hendrik Dowe came fifth. In the second division, Sophie Hinners took third place with Munin, a son of Mylord Carthago-Chin Chin (Michael Eitel, Freihung-Thannsüss). Crack by Cornet Obolensky–Candillo (Campos Cria de Caballos de Deporte), line 1020, and Richard Vogel took eighth place. Right behind them were Forino by For Pleasure-Caretino (Manfred v. Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 776, and Sofie Svensson.

Cross-country horses – Holsteiners on course
for medals Following the dressage and show jumping and ahead of Sunday’s all-deciding cross-country test, Holsteiners are in promising positions among both the five- and six-year-old cross-country horses: In the five-year-olds’ standings, Duplexx by Diarado-Heraldik xx (Hans Peter Petersen, Tating), line 3317, presented by Jan Matthias, is in the lead. He is followed by the former Holsteiner Elite Auction horse Lillet by Livello-Calido I (Morena Petersen, Ahrenviöl), line 776, ridden by Andreas Dibowski. The pair have already made a name for themselves in the final qualifier with an impressive cross-country round and a score of 9.2. Equally promising are the performances so far by Artus S by Amber-Caletto I (Rudi Stage, Moorrege), line 7649, ridden by Lotte Palmgren – currently in fourth place – and Juna R by Colman-Caretino (Peter Rehder, Krumstedt), line 4965, ridden by Antonia Baumgart, currently in sixth place.

In the six-year-olds’ class, ahead of the third part of the final – the cross-country test – Clearsky by Clearway-Corrado I (Cristina Trauffer, Brienz), line 4, and Louise Romeike delivered the best results of the field. Romeike, who hails from Sweden, has another contender in the running for a medal with Rockett by Rock Forever-Mighty Magic (Burkhard Schwarz, Nahe), line 2599. The dark bay was once owned by Holsteiner Verband Vermarktungs und Auktions GmbH and is currently ranked fourth. The results will be decided on Sunday from 11.00 and 14.15 respectively.
