Regarding the Holsteiner licensing from 9 to 11 February in Neumünster, discussions have taken place with some members of the Association of Private Stallion Keepers in Schleswig-Holstein concerning possible presentation opportunities for their sires during this licensing period.
These discussions were scheduled after a board member of the Holsteiner Verband and a private stallion keeper spoke personally at an event in December. Following this, an initial meeting was arranged between Christmas and New Year. The concept presented by the Association of Private Stallion Keepers at this meeting proposed that during the Holsteiner licensing (Thursday or Friday evening), the Association of Private Stallion Keepers be granted a time slot of approximately three hours to organize a stallion show. The association management would have thus enabled some members of their association to present their stallions during this time slot, independent of the Verband. In response to inquiries from the board, it was confirmed in said meeting that only a fraction of all Holsteiner Verband members who own one or more private stallions are members of the Association of Private Stallion Keepers in Schleswig-Holstein. The contents were discussed within the board meeting on 5 January: It was unanimously decided that a concept providing for the presentation of private stallions during the Holsteiner licensing period must guarantee fair framework conditions and equal opportunities for all private stallion keepers. Upon advice from the marketing GmbH responsible for planning and execution, implementing these ideas in February 2023 is not feasible due to the scope of a pilot event of this magnitude. For a potential event concept, all keepers of stallions registered in Holstein are to be given equal opportunity to participate in the planning. This was not possible within the described timeframe. The discussed ideas are to be promptly resumed – involving as many private stallion keepers as possible – for concepts from 2024 onwards.
