At the Eventing World Championships in Pratoni del Vivaro, Italy, the German team won the gold medal. Carjatan S by Clearway-Galant Vert xx (Carl-Friedrich Söhrmann, Groß Buchwald), line 6788, and Christoph Wahler also played their part, as they were one of the few pairs to remain clear in the final show jumping round. Although he wasn’t entirely satisfied with his dressage performance (32.8 penalty points), the cross-country ride the following day put Wahler in a more positive frame of mind: “My horse did an outstanding job; he’s incredibly honest – he wants to get everything right. He certainly suits courses that are more fluid, with longer gallop sections, much more.” Nevertheless, the pair only incurred time penalties. The manager of Klosterhof Medingen then left the course on the final day with a broad smile: “That was a brilliant finish for me. The horse jumped fantastically, and a good horse lets the rider shine. It was outstanding; it was so much fun. We also received lots of tips from our trainers and the other riders, and I was able to put them into practice quite well,” he said.
The bronze went to the New Zealand team with Mc Claren by Clarimo-Landjunge (Dirk Hotze, Brunsbüttel), line 2554, and Jonelle Price. McClaren, once ridden by eventing legend Mark Todd, finished the World Championships as the top Holsteiner in the individual standings, coming tenth. He, too, completed the show jumping round without any faults.

Carlitos Quidditch K wins four-star classic in Blenheim
The reserve pairs for the World Championships set off from their training camp to compete in the four-star classic in Blenheim (GBR). Malin Hansen-Hotopp rides Carlitos Quidditch K (Miriam Kühl, Steinfeld), a son of Quiwi Dream and Cassini I, line 6082. The pair secured a resounding start-to-finish victory, taking the lead after the dressage and holding on to it until the end. A Holsteiner duo also took silver: Casino by Casillas-Claudio (Behrend Jacobs), line 1020, and Dirk Schrade. They also finished the competition, which featured over 80 starters, with the same score they achieved in the dressage.
In Blenheim, there was also a four-star competition for eight- and nine-year-old eventing horses, and a Holsteiner proved unbeatable: Halo by Humphrey-Contender (Hobe Bernhard), line 318D2, and Piggy March secured victory in the UK. And this was not the first victory this year for this pair, who, for example, finished first in a three-star event at Rockingham (GBR).
