35 representatives of the 2019 crop were entered for the Verband mare show in Elmshorn, and their queen was found: Melypsa by Barcley-Armand xx, bred by Sönke Eggers (Struvenhütten), dam line 223B, trotted to the title of Siegerstute 2022. And the best mare was also highlighted in the dressage ring: My Romanciera by Fürst Romancier-Aljano (breeder: Sonja and Nina Ellerbrock, Kayhude).
Eleven mares made it into the final ring. Casall and Barcley each provided two daughters, while Del Arko, Cascadello I, Lewine, Almoretto, Fürst Romancier, Karajan and Comme il Faut each provided one. The already performance-tested Melypsa by Barcley-Armand xx-Calypso I-Ladalco from the famous Holsteiner dam line 223B left the Herbert Blöcker arena as the radiant winner. Sönke Eggers from Struvenhütten is responsible for the breeding of the classy dark bay mare. “Today we saw a horse here with a very alert eye and great uphill carriage,” breeding director Stephan Haarhoff praised. “In addition, Melypsa comes from a special mare line – one of the most successful Holsteiner mares, D-Troja, is her grandam,” Haarhoff continued. This Holsteiner mare, awarded 23 stars, has produced successful sport horses such as Wolterra by Casall (Ingrid Klimke) or Ultima by Quidam’s Rubin (Carsten-Otto Nagel).
The commission, which alongside the breeding director included Rasmus Lüneburg (Hetlingen) and Hermann Blohm (Hodorf), crowned Mia by Clarksville-Stanfour-Canterburry-Quinar as reserve winner. She was born at Ernst Otto Christiansen's in Struckum, who also exhibited Mia. Stephan Haarhoff described the representative of dam line 890, which once placed third at the regional foal championship in Bad Segeberg, as a “truly exceptional horse with exquisite basic gaits”. The reserve winner has also already completed performance testing and stood out with a very excellent result at the mare performance test. Just like the jumping-oriented winner, the second reserve also has the Baloubet du Rouet son Barcley as her sire. We are talking about MS Barquia, whose dam is a Quantum-Capitol I-Toledo mare from dam line 2067. The wonderfully put-together bay already stood out as champion mare in the Stormarn-Lauenburg breeding district. Hans-Peter Rathjen from Ahrensburg is her breeder.
Strong top group in the dressage ring
Stephan Haarhoff attested “very special qualities” to the top group in the dressage ring. This also applied to My Romanciera by Fürst Romancier-Aljano-Cor de la Bryere-Rocadero, bred by the Ellerbrock family from Kayhude. This classy black mare completed her performance test with a score of 8.98 and was also named champion mare in the Segeberg breeding district. Haarhoff further described the dressage mares' reserve winner as “quite striking”. This is Mariendal’s Pari-Al by Almoretto-Loran-Astaire DK-Raimondo, bred by Dane Karen Kappel. She was also awarded the state premium.
