2021 Association Mare Show: These are the winning mares

The Holstein Horse Days came to a fitting conclusion on Sunday with the selection of the winners of the Association Mare Show and the championships for five- and six-year-old show jumpers: La Perla by Casall was highlighted as the show-jumping-oriented champion mare, whilst Lady Sunshine by Amber shone in the dressage-oriented ring.

La Perla by Casall-Contender was described as “an exceptional mare who leaves nothing to be desired”, as breeding director Stephan Haarhoff commented. The black-bay mare was bred by Katja Claußen-Brühe (Seeth-Ekholt) and represents line 1859. Reporter Heinrich Plaas-Beisemann (Fröndenberg) also highlighted the excellent conformation of the show-jumping-oriented winner. “She embodies the ideal of a broodmare,” he is certain. The Reserve Champion title went to a daughter of Cascadello I-Chicago Z (Manfred Birchler, SUI) from line 3697, named Ludina BB. Second reserve champion was Lalida by Million Dollar–Calido I (ZG Oldekop, Schönwalde) from line 3389. All three mares have already passed their performance tests and were therefore awarded the coveted State Premium.

Among the dressage-oriented mares, the selection committee – comprising Stephan Haarhoff (Kiel), Jens Hauschildt (Seester) and Heino Kracht (Hamburg), selected a mare from the breeding farm of Ekkehard Kraas (St. Peter-Ording) as the best. Lady Sunshine by Amber-Larimar is from line 7020 and was awarded the association premium. Lucille by Zack-Colman (Michael Eitel, Freihung-Thansüss) was named reserve champion in the dressage-oriented category; she also meets the criteria for an association premium. “We have seen a fine collection of mares, with which we – and I am sure I speak for the breeders as well – are highly satisfied,” said breeding director Stephan Haarhoff.
