Six pairs had made it through to the jump-off for the Olympic individual show jumping medals. Among them was the entire Swedish team, all of whom rode clear rounds. All six riders rode clear rounds in the jump-off. Ben Maher (GBR) clocked the fastest time on his trusted Explosion W by Chacco Blue-Baloubet du Rouet, Peder Fredericson (SWE) secured silver with All in by Kashmir van Shuttershof out of Andiamo Z, whilst the bronze medal went to the Netherlands, to Mikael van der Vleuten and Beuaville Z by Bustique out of Jumpy de Fontaines.
The best horse bearing a Holsteiner brand finished in 14th place: Quel Homme de Hus by Quidam de Revel out of Candillo (Dr Andreas Kosicki, Berlin), who jumped confidently right up to the final fence of the first round and completed the course without any knockdowns. A disagreement with his rider, Jerome Guery (BEL), prevented them from qualifying for the jump-off. VDL Cartello by Cartani-Lord (Witt Pferdezucht Gbr, Wellinghusen) and Darragh Kenny (IRL) finished 17th. In 22nd place were Ende Bardolina by Clarimo-Landos (Ute Jürgensen, Sehestedt) and Mario Deslauries (CAN).
The team jumping qualifier will take place on Friday from 11.55 am. ZDF will be broadcasting it via livestream.
