Tokyo 2021: A medal for Quel Homme de Hus and the Belgian team
Tags

Ever since the European Championships in Rotterdam two years ago, where they were part of the gold-medal-winning team , Jérôme Guery and the licensed Holsteiner stallion Quel Homme de Hus (Dr Andreas Kosicki, Berlin) have been among the mainstays of the Belgian team. This was once again the case at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where the son of Quidam de Revel and Candillo produced one of the few clear rounds in the team final, thereby playing a decisive role in securing the bronze medal.
Incidentally, the other two horses in the Belgian team also have a significant Holsteiner influence: Gregory Whatelet rode Navado S by Calvados, whilst Peter Devos rode Claire Z by Clearway-Coronado.
The gold medal was won – and richly deserved after a thrilling jump-off against the USA – by the riders from Sweden, who left no doubt as to their ability throughout the competition. Peder Fredericson (All in), Malin Baryard-Johnsson (Indiana) and Hendrik von Eckermann (King Edward) are the deserving winners of these Olympic Games! Silver went to Laura Kraut and Baloutine, Jessica Springsteen and Don Juan van de Doenkhoeve, and McLain Ward and Contagouis, whose sire, Contagio, is a Holsteiner.
