The management of the Holsteiner Verband was delighted to review the results of the survey on the usage concept for the association’s facilities in Elmshorn.

Just under 20 members submitted their well-thought-out suggestions and creative ideas. “We are very pleased that so many of our members are willing to play an active part in developing a concept,” said Inken Gräfin von Platen-Hallermund, who is overseeing the project on behalf of the Executive Board in collaboration with the managing directors. Based on these ideas, a concept is now to be developed that will put the association’s facility in Elmshorn on a sound financial footing for the future. The current Executive Board has already pledged its full support for this important project.


The following suggestions have been summarised briefly in bullet points:
 

• Find a main sponsor
• Use of the show jumping arena
• Training days
  : Open training sessions for everyone
  ; opportunities to use the show jumping arena
  ; test rides under competition conditions with judges’ comments
• Training courses
  & seminars Day events, e.g. on the topics of mating, heredity, mare line development, etc.
  Training courses including stable box hire
  Training courses with top international trainers (show jumping, dressage, driving, VS – or even Andrea Kutsch and co.)
• Events on the association’s grounds:
  Small concerts
  , flower days
  , antiques
  , exhibitions and markets modelled on Home&Garden (incorporating a foal show)
  , readings in the courtyard or in the Old Riding Hall
• Competitions:
  Regular competitions for
  amateurs*Hunter Cup SH/HH*
  CSI sales competitions
  with foal auction and stallion show jumping
  ; outdoor dressage competition up to Grand Prix level
• Training and marketing of breeding horses in Elmshorn
• Talent scouting to bring young riders and breeders together
• Rental of detached accommodation
• Conversion of the trotting racecourse grandstand by external contractors
• Converting the trotting racecourse grandstand into a catering and leisure area, and possibly even letting it out
• Generation of electricity via photovoltaic systems
• Museum/library housing the historical estates of deceased members
• Breeders’ evenings
• Expand the Holsteiner Shop, including the display in Elmshorn
• Offer educational trips with hotel accommodation, guided tours, talks and visits to breeders, modelled on the FN’s PM events
• Meteor Awards Ceremony (Rathmann Verlag)
• Collaboration with companies for equine-assisted leadership training
• Seek cooperation with a local hotel
• Venue for photo shoots (e.g. equestrian brands)
• Market advertising space
• Holsteiner Ball
• Offer for recreational sport

These and, where applicable, other topics will be addressed in mid-September as the next step by a working group comprising survey participants who have agreed to take part.
The issue of letting out stable blocks in Elmshorn has already been taken forward in recent weeks. A public call for tenders regarding this will be available shortly on the Holsteiner Verband’s website.
The aim of the working group is to develop a comprehensive, attractive and forward-looking concept for the Holsteiner Verband’s facilities in Elmshorn.
