A victory was added to the tally of Oak Grove’s Carlyle by Casall-Corrado I (S.C. Sofino, St. Vith/Recht), born in 1986, and Jeroen Dubbeldam (NED) in the qualifier for the 1.45-metre Grand Prix. The gelding entered the sport under Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, having won, amongst other things, the Gothenburg Trophy as part of the 2019 World Cup Final; he then spent a short time under Harm Lahde and has been competing on the international circuit with Jeroen Dubbeldam since the end of 2019.
In the USA, Deauville S by Diamant de Semilly-Lux Z (Julius-Peter Sinnack, Bocholt), line 4025, and Clarima by Clarimo–Lancer II (Wencke Westphalen-Vehrs, Vaale), line 42A2, have each won a show jumping class at 1.45-metre level. Laura Kraut (photo) and Julie Welles (both USA) have already ridden Deauville S to success; in Wellington, the gelding was ridden by Tanner Korotkin (USA). Clarima’s rider is Sophee Steckbeck, who competes for Argentina and is just 18 years old.
Bull Run’s Prince of Peace (Breido Graf zu Rantzau, Breitenburg), a son of Cardenio Contender from line 1446, won the Grand Prix in Wellington – with a total prize fund of 75,000 US dollars – under Kristen Vanderveen. The bay began his show jumping career in Schleswig-Holstein under Lena Glisic and has since enjoyed great success at heights of up to 1.60 metres.
In Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, Casper vd Rode Poelhoeve by Casall-Quinar (Klaus Thiedemann, Oesterwurth), line 2543, won a 1.40-metre show jumping class in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, under Giulia Martinengo Marquet (ITA); the pair already have international victories up to 1.50 metres to their name.
In recent weeks, Zirocco Air by Zirocco Blue-Con Air (Jan van Hamond, Haren-Fehndorf), line 18B1, ridden by his Polish rider Mateusz Tyszko, has been making a name for itself: at several competitions, most recently at the CSI2* in Poznan (POL), he has secured top placings in 1.40-metre and 1.45-metre classes.
