Warendorf Sports Test: No getting past the Holstein stallions

In Warendorf over the past few days, show jumping and dressage stallions aged between three and six years took part in a shortened aptitude test (Kurz-VA) or a sport test. Holstein stallions made a particularly positive impression: they achieved the best results among both the four- and five-year-old stallions on the course, even securing a one-two finish among the five-year-olds.

Dominating the sport test for four-year-old show jumping stallions was Casolo, a son of Casall, bred and owned by Witt Pferdezucht GbR in Wellinghusen. For the dark bay, it was not only his canter (8.5) and jumping ability (8.6) but, above all, his rideability (9.2) that tipped the balance in favour of a weighted final score of 8.63.

With Babylon Berlin (8.31) by Brantzau-Nabab de Reve (Sven Völz, Bienenbüttel) and Cornet’s Caruso (8.22) by Cornet Obolensky-Cash and Carry (Karola Boley, Lutzhorn), two further Holsteiners achieved final marks above 8.

The assessment committee also awarded high marks in the individual criteria for the five-year-old show jumping stallions. No fewer than two of the stallions competing in the performance test in this age group finished with a weighted final mark of 8.85: Coreandro (already six years old) by Caretino–Leandro and Chinchero, a son of Chopin–Clarimo. Coreandro, who possesses a very good canter and jumping ability (9.0 in each), was bred by David Fux from Sempach and entered for the test by Ingetraud Bolz from Kerpen. Chinchero – bred by Manfred Allwörden (Grönwohld) – was presented by Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann from Pinneberg. He received a perfect 9 for his canter, as well as for his rideability and overall impression.

In addition, the Livello-Casall son Lyotard (Dr Antonio Conde, Wöhrden) completed the sport test with a final mark of 8.64, which is well within the ‘good’ range.
