Crispo R v. Casall-Corrado (Dr Michael Rüping, Breitenburg), line 1726, and Darragh Kenny (IRL) have won a 1.45-metre show jumping competition in Opglabbeek, Belgium. The bay horse began his show jumping career in Schleswig-Holstein under Andreas Erni (SUI), moved to be ridden by Philipp Weishaupt and has recently – at just eight years of age – enjoyed success under Kerry McCahil (USA) and now Darragh Kenny.
In Ehlersdorf, Lint by Limbus-Carthago (Franz Sager), line 2666, and Pheline Ahlmann claimed victory in the first advanced show jumping class of the competition this weekend. In addition, the reigning state champion of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, Jan Meves, won the Grand Prix on the Sunday of the competition with his successful horse Dynastie D by Casall-C-Indoctro (Gabriele Dehn, Schwesing), line 18B1.
The Dehn family from Schwesing not only had reason to celebrate the successes of their home-bred horse Dynastie D this weekend; there was also cause for celebration in the ‘Prize of the Best’ competition for junior eventing riders: 17-year-old Nane Nikolaus Dehn, who was awarded the black, red and gold sash in Warendorf on Zilia D by Corland-Mytens xx, was the only rider in the junior field to finish the competition with his dressage score (30.6 penalty points). “My horse simply jumped superbly,” he said, expressing his thanks to his grandfather Friedrich Dehn, the breeder of the grey mare, who represents line 18B1.
Teike Carstensen shone in the U25 Show Jumping Cup with Caretina by Carentan-Aljano (Meike Carstens, Immenstedt), line 5964. The 22-year-old from Sollwitt was a good three seconds ahead of the competition in the jump-off and won the third qualifier for Germany’s U25 Jumping Cup, organised by the German Elite Equestrian Sports Foundation and the Müter family, at the ‘Preis der Besten’ in Warendorf.
Count Ebony, a son of Casall out of an Acobat II dam, once changed hands at the Holsteiner Elite Auction and has now won a 1.45-metre class in Samorin (SVK). The breeder of the black-bay horse from line 4507 is Andreas Utesch from Malkendorf, and he was ridden by Ivaylo Bonev from Bulgaria.
Caracciola MT by Chin Champ-Calido I (Miriam-Kathleen Haak, Bröthen), line 1463, and Daniel Bachmann Andersen (DEN) delivered an outstanding performance in the arena in Munich. The Dane has only been riding the former Bundeschampionat finalist for a few months; and he has now placed the grey, owned by Gestüt Vorwerk, in second place in both qualifying classes for the Nuremberg Burg-Pokal at the Pferd International Munich show, scoring over 74 per cent and 76 per cent respectively.
