Series: The Executive Board Reports

As part of this series, information from the Executive Board work of the Holsteiner Verband is published at regular intervals. We would like to inform you, dear members, about the results and resolutions of the Executive Board.

Marketing, Elmshorn

Applications have been received for the succession of Roland Metz as Managing Director of Marketing und Auktions GmbH. Discussions will be held in due course. Roland Metz will still be available as auction manager for the elite foal auction on 20 August.

Stallion Barn, Elmshorn
Discussions are being held with riders who could potentially become the first rider of the stallion barn. Keaton and Charaktervoll are showing very well under Lars Bak Andersen. In Ladelund, both have qualified for the Bundeschampionat. Nevertheless, the plan to not compete there, but rather to continue building up the stallions solidly, is being maintained.
It is being discussed which stallions will be offered in frozen/fresh semen. Sebastian Rohde is trying to find the best possible individual solution for all stallions for the 2023 breeding season. For instance, frozen semen will shortly be produced from Crack in order to then give him to Richard Vogel and continue presenting him in competition sport. Million Dollar is in Elmshorn and is doing well under the circumstances. The young stallions Nohoval and Update have fortunately been very well frequented by breeders – with good pregnancy success.
Additional paddocks at the stallion barn are to be built, offers have been received. There is sufficient space behind the trotting track. The indoor arena floor of the dressage arena is to be reconditioned, for the optimal condition inter alia for free jumping at the stallion selection and for the mare performance tests.

Breeding Society, Kiel
A review of the foal registration so far shows a constant, slightly positive development compared to the previous year's date. However, the number of foals per breeding district varies greatly. Regarding the stallion performance test, a questionnaire on the future implementation of the tests has been provided by the FN. Breeding societies, presenters, etc. were surveyed and based on the results, the final voting of the societies is now to take place. Our tendency is the breeding permit at three years without test, first aptitude test then at three and a half years in autumn. The number of test days is being discussed; the shorter, the more decisive the preparation, the longer, the better the actual horse can be judged by the judges. Therefore, the Holsteiner Verband tends towards 14 days to give the breeder maximum information. The organisation should be taken over by the FN.
The delegate assembly will take place on 12 December 2022 at 18:30 in Neumünster.
