The world-famous horse painter Klaus Philipp died shortly before his 91st birthday near Cologne, where he had been living for several months close to his daughter. Klaus Philipp, born in April 1932 in the Ore Mountains, grew up in Holstein, where he painted his first horse at the age of 13 and learnt to ride himself. He leaves behind numerous illustrated books, calendars and paintings – most of them featuring horses. He also painted many Holsteiners, including Caretino, Corrado I and Contender.
His family has set up an online memorial book where his fans, acquaintances and friends can leave their personal messages.
