What a thrilling final that was! The Olympic medals for the eventing riders have been awarded. And a horse from the Land between the Seas also secured a medal. We’re talking about London by Landos-Quinar, bred by Ocke Riewert (Alkersum). Ridden by the British rider Laura Collett, the eleven-year-old gelding was part of the dominant team that confidently secured the gold medal. With a strong dressage performance (sixth place) and a clear round in the cross-country, the pair made a significant contribution to the team’s success. London only had one knockdown in the show jumping. In the individual standings, the Holsteiner and Laura Collett finished in a very creditable ninth place. The silver medal was won by the French team, ahead of the Australians.
The individual final was also thrilling, with Julia Krajewski taking the win on the French mare Amande de B’Neville. Silver went to Tom McEwen (GBR) ahead of Andrew Hoy (AUS). Alongside London, two further Holsteiners made it through to the individual final: Diachello by Diarado-Chello (Thomas Visser, Dentlein am Forst), ridden by Jesse Campbell (NZL), finished 22nd in the final standings, Vitali by Contender-Heraldik xx (Günther Fielmann, Schierensee), ridden by Tim Price (NZL), came 24th. The New Zealand team finished seventh.
