With the Holsteiner YoungStar, we want to launch a new online series. As the name suggests, it revolves around young Holsteiner horses that are drawing particular sporting attention to themselves.
The series kicks off with Lucy La Douce by Colman-Acorado I-Caretino, bred by the Tischer family from Lauda. Peter Domenus discovered the bay mare at the age of three at her breeder's yard. "We have been working with the Domenus family for many years," reports Lucy's rider Katharina von Essen, whose partner Sascha Piotrowski is registered as joint owner alongside Saskia Domenus.
As a four-year-old, she went to her first young horse jumping classes – and completed the tasks so promisingly that she was allowed to enjoy the summer back out in the pasture. At five and six years old, she qualified for the Bundeschampionate, and this year – now seven years old – Lucy La Douce has already shone repeatedly in national and international youngster tours, such as at the German Championships in Balve, the Westphalian Week in Münster-Handorf, or recently in Lastrup with the Klatte family, where she decisively won the final. "Lucy always wants to do the right thing. She has a lot of blood and is careful. She is simply a super horse in every respect," Katharina von Essen says, describing the Holsteiner mare. Due to these successes, Lucy has once again qualified for the Bundeschampionate this year, but she will also compete at the CSI** in Deurne (NED) and in Riesenbeck, among other events.
Lucy La Douce descends from Holsteiner damline 1298 – known as the legendary "Lord damline". But that is not all. Her second dam, Negrill by Caretino, is also the dam of the Zirocco Blue son Zaccorado Blue, who collected international successes up to 1.60m with David Will in the saddle. In Baxxter by Breitling, Lucy also has a half-brother of the same age who has similarly reached the advanced level under Jonte Hansen and placed eighth in the final of the seven-year-old Bundeschampionate a few days ago. Lucy La Douce is therefore not only a true Holsteiner YoungStar in terms of sport, but also a genetically very interesting horse whose continued journey will be eagerly anticipated.
