With Hans Melzer – Future Day for Holstein eventing horses on 10 October

On 10 October, a ‘Future Day’ for Holsteiner eventing horses is to take place in Elmshorn, focusing on the development of young athletes as well as the promotion of these very same horses. Hans Melzer has been brought on board as the trainer for the event.

As part of the Holsteiner Verband’s Eventing Working Group, the idea was conceived – in collaboration with both full-time and voluntary staff – to launch a ‘Future Day’ for Holsteiner eventing horses, or rather those with the potential to become eventing horses. Participants will have the opportunity to present their horses to a renowned trainer. And that will be none other than Hans Melzer. For around 30 years, Hans Melzer – himself a European Championship competitor in the 1970s – was the national coach for German eventing riders. He initially coached pony riders in this discipline before taking charge of training Germany’s top riders from 2001 to 2021. He succeeded in leading the German eventing riders back to the top of the international rankings and repeatedly demonstrated their position amongst the world’s best.

For those interested and with the appropriate qualifications, this Future Day offers the opportunity to have their Holsteiner assessed for the Elite Riding Horse Auction. Three-year-old horses will be shown in the basic gaits and free jumping, whilst the older horses will be assessed on the show jumping course and in dressage-style work. The event also serves as a venue for discussion, networking and private sales, and is expected to begin at 2 pm.

The Eventing Working Group looks forward to receiving plenty of registrations! Please feel free to print out the poster or distribute it in other ways.
