State Championships: Cousin and Crack clinch the titles

Cousin by Cornet Obolensky-Cassini I (Joachim Schiedel, Grande), Line 2666, came into the ownership of Manfred von Allwörden as a foal via the Holstein Auction; his rider, Diarmuid Howley, skilfully showcased the stallion in Elmshorn. The pair had already received a score of 8.5 for their performance in the qualifier. In the final, they raised their game once again and were awarded 8.8 by the judges in both rounds – securing victory in the State Championship for five-year-olds. “This stallion has good reflexes, jumps towards his rider and knows how to use his body,” read the judges’ comments. Intschuschuna SV by Brantzau-Companiero (Sven Völz, Bienenbüttel), Line 730B, and Thea Jelcic took silver, whilst Diarmuid Howley placed third on Diamant de Operette VA (Line 776), a son of Diamant de Semilly and Contender, bred by his employer Manfred von Allwörden.

Crack in Front
The sun was already low over the association’s grounds in Elmshorn when a grey stallion and his rider had the spectators cheering: Crack by Cornet Obolensky-Candillo (Campos Cria de Caballos de Deporte, ESP), line 1020, and Maximilian Gräfe had the crowd holding their breath during the jump-off for the State Championship title for six-year-olds – and ultimately drew thunderous applause. On the Saturday of the event, the pair had already won the second qualifying round (score 8.8), confirmed their performance in the final round on the day of the final (8.6) and, in the jump-off, produced a lightning-fast round to beat High Level by Livello-King Milford xx (Jens Hauschildt, Seester), line 95, and Sven Gero Hünicke. They succeeded in doing so, and their time could not be beaten even by the runners-up, Caillan by Casall-Carry (Gerd Ohlsen, Föhr), line 18A2, and Antonia Selina Brinkop. “I’m speechless and over the moon,” said Maximilian Gräfe. “Crack already gave me a great feeling in the preliminary round and stepped it up a notch in the jump-off; he was even more alert and energetic,” beamed Gräfe.
