Approval & Auction: Elmshorn is raring to go

Everything is ready for the launch of this inaugural event: The young stallion licensing for the 2021 crop will take place at the Holsteiner Verband’s facilities in Elmshorn from 14 to 16 December – 47 stallions will be presented at the ‘Christmas Edition’.

The event begins on Thursday (14 December) at 10 am in the traditional manner with the pavement inspection, which takes place at the disused trotting track, set against a fitting backdrop of tents and spectators. At 2 pm, the programme continues with a new feature: the first of two free jumping sessions, both of which will count equally towards the licensing decisions. On Thursday evening, all fans of the Holsteiner horse are invited to the Welcome Evening – Holsteiner Verband Vermarktungs und Auktions GmbH is treating everyone to a round of free beer. Friday’s programme is once again dominated by free jumping, which begins at 8.00 am in the festively decorated Fritz-Thiedemann-Halle. At 4.30 pm, the seven auction horses selected by Head of Marketing Felix Flinzer and his team will be presented. And at 6.30 pm, the excitement builds further as the licensing verdicts are announced. The newly approved stallions can then be celebrated at the breeders’ party – here, the ‘everso’ collective, known from Aachen’s Media Night, will provide live music, featuring reworked and reinterpreted versions of current chart hits and cult classics. Spectators will only find out which stallion is proclaimed the celebrated champion stallion and which stallions receive the premium for the first time the following day, on Saturday morning (16 December), from 11.00 am. Afterwards, the two-and-a-half-year-olds available for sale, as well as the riding horses, will change hands via the auction.

Last-minute visitors will be rewarded, as tickets for the Holsteiner Licensing in the Christmas Edition are still available at the box office in Elmshorn. On Thursday in particular, spectators will have the chance to enjoy the first free jumping session from the best vantage points. Incidentally, a visit to Elmshorn is also well worth it on Sunday, 17 December: at the Holsteiner Breeders’ Brunch organised by Hengsthaltungs GmbH, the younger stallions will be showcased in a presentation under training conditions from 10.30 am.
