This grey stallion has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent weeks and has now made the leap onto the international stage. The new Holsteiner YoungStar: Cardentos by Cardento-Quo Vados I, bred by the Witt family of Wellinghusen.
The large-framed grey, from the famous line 776, made his first public appearance at the Holsteiner licensing in Neumünster, from which he emerged with the coveted ‘Kör’ rating. The now nine-year-old later shone in show jumping competitions with Alexandra and Marten Witt and also placed at the National Championships in Warendorf. “Cardentos has always been a real powerhouse. He’s full of spirit, very intelligent and careful. A real machine on the course,” says Marten Witt, describing the stallion, for whom the focus is initially on further development in competition.
At the start of this year, Richard Vogel took over the training of Cardentos. In Wellington and Ocala (USA), the new pair made a perfect debut: following several victories in show jumping at heights of 1.35 metres to 1.45 metres, the pair secured their first 5* triumph over 1.50 metres just a few days ago.
Cardentos comes from a widespread and highly successful mare line, whose roots lie in line 776. The branch from which Cardentos originates has already produced numerous top-class horses. Examples include the championship horse Quno by Quo Vados I (Edouard Schmitz/SUI) and the former Holsteiner Champion Stallion Vigado by Vigo d’Arsouilles.
