Already twice, the new Holsteiner YoungStar has managed to make it into the catalogue of a Holsteiner Verband auction. Through the foal auction, Bojangels moved from the breeding establishment of Lass in Leck into the ownership of Johannes Kuhn from Gomadingen in southern Germany in 2018. He, in turn, sold the Brantzau daughter as the top price at the Elite Auction in Elmshorn in 2022 to regular customer Francesca Pollara. Now the mare has competed at the World Championship in Lanaken (BEL).
Bojangels was born at Annika Lass's farm in the district of North Frisia. The breeder paired her Clarimo-Lavall II daughter Catania from stem 730b with the Baloubet du Rouet son Brantzau. Numerous successful sport horses have already been produced by this damline, which is maintained by the Ritters family in Krumstedt – most notably, of course, the double Olympic champion and team world champion Marius (Hinrich Romeike). But the 1.60-metre show jumpers Cefalo (Holger Wulschner/GER) and Compadre v/d Helle (Constant van Paesschen/BEL) also descend from it. And indeed Bojangels.
"We have bred many great horses from this stem, but particularly from Bojangels' dam Catania," says Annika Lass proudly. "They have real energy and blood." And this is precisely how Johannes Kuhn, who purchased Bojangels as a foal, describes the Holsteiner mare. "On the recommendation of an acquaintance, we bought her at auction in Elmshorn back then and raised her. Even during backing, it turned out that she is a horse with a tremendous amount of attitude and mind," Johannes Kuhn recalls well. These qualities ultimately also convinced Francesca Pollara, one of the most successful discoverers of eventing horses and a regular customer at the Holsteiner Verband. And so she purchased Bojangels as the top-priced horse in the autumn of 2022 for her stable in Great Britain. However, the Brantzau daughter subsequently pursued a career as a show jumper and is now stabled at Mike van Olst's yard in Belgium. Age-appropriate successes in youngster tours up to 1.40 metres have been added to her record of success so far. Recently, the seven-year-old competed at the World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken. A single jumping fault in each round prevented her from reaching the final. However, the Holsteiner mare could not conceal her outstanding quality as a show jumper.
