This week in Hagen am Teutoburger Wald, competitors were not only vying for medals at the European Dressage Championships – where Annabelle by Conteur-Linaro (Günther Fielmann, Schierensee), line 776, and Helen Langehanenberg won team gold with the German squad, but a CSI3* event also took place.

There, the former Bundeschampion Charisma HS by Uriko-Cassito (Christoph Schmidt, Ober-Mörlen), line 503, and Richard Vogel won a 1.40-metre show jumping class. Vogel took over the training of the mare, who is owned by Olympic rider Hugo Simon, at the start of 2019, and went on to win the Bundeschampionesse title with her that same year. “She always wants to do everything right and learns very quickly,” her rider enthused at the time. This year, Vogel has taken the seven-year-old into international competitions up to 1.45 metres, with the pair emerging victorious in several show jumping events.

Chill Ma (line 8763), a daughter of Crunch-Alcatraz, comes from the Lüneburg family’s stud in Hetlingen; both Nisse and Rasmus Lüneburg have already enjoyed success with her in young horse classes. In Paderborn, the 2019 Derby winner Nisse now took third place in a 1.45-metre course with this horse, whose dam is Leica, herself a successful competitor up to 1.60 metres.

Cochello by Casall-Cartani (owner Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), line 1298, is an absolutely reliable horse for his rider Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA). The grey has already won at 1.55 metres in Warsaw, Poland, this year, amongst other victories, and has now claimed victory in a 1.45-metre competition as part of the Longines Global Champions Tour in Rome (ITA).

Confua by Contact Me-Cambridge, line 4705, was born at Kai Gerken’s stud in Lasbek. With Krzysztof Ludwiczak (POL) in the saddle, the grey mare won a difficult show jumping competition in Gorla Minore (ITA), in which Citano van Prinseveld by Cormint-Ephebe Forever (Manfred von Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 5951, and Martin Kühnis (SUI) took third place.

At the German Youth Championships in Darmstadt-Kranichstein, Holsteiners secured three medals in the show jumping. Classic White by Clarimo-Cassini I (Frank Plock, Borken), Line 6042, and Emma Bachl jumped to victory in the Children’s class. In this class, Leon by Loran-Calido I (Walter Teufel, Neuried-Altenheim), line 8778, and Amy Helfrich secured bronze. Once again, Nerrado by Nekton-Acorado I (Uwe Krohn, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog), line 104B3, and Hannes Ahlmann delivered top performances in the Young Riders category, securing the runner-up title.
