Tokyo, a daughter of Toulon out of a Cassini I dam (Jürgen Böge, Bunsoh), line 7492, flew to victory in the World Ranking Show Jumping competition (1.45 metres) in Neustadt an der Dosse with Hannes Ahlmann in the saddle. Hannes Ahlmann initially guided the mare through show jumping classes, including successful appearances at the National Championships and the World Championships for Young Show Jumpers, before progressing to more demanding events. For example, the pair finished second in the Grand Prix at Warendorf and also at Riesenbeck last year. Fourth place in Neustadt/Dosse went to Quality Time by Quadros-Carpaccio (Manfred Jessen, Bredstedt), line 2067, and Christian Hess.
In Switzerland, at the World Cup competition in Basel, Hans-Dieter Dreher was once again highly successful with his two Holstein greys: riding Cous Cous, a son of Cachas-Lasino (Norbert Schmalbach, Mollhagen), line 18B1, he won the 1.50-metre show jumping class, finishing more than two seconds ahead of the world number one, Henrik von Eckermann (SWE). Another Holsteiner made it into the top ranks in this competition: Casillas van de Helle by Casall-Corrado I (Dr Konrad Bartjen, Wacken), line 6372, finished fourth with Kevin Jochems (NED) in the saddle.
At the World Cup leg in Basel, Dreher secured fourth place with Elysium by Zirocco Blue-Coronado I (Manfred Tummes, Mühlheim), line 4539, and earned important points for the rankings. Hans-Dieter Dreher is currently the highest-ranked German in ninth place.
Also performing very well in Basel was Dark Chocolate, a son of Casall (sire: Acodetto) bred by the Oldekop family (Schönwalde), line 3389. He was ridden by Denis Lynch (IRL) to second place over 1.55 metres. Camilla van de Helle by L.B. Crumble-Casall (Klaus Thiedemann, Oesterwurth), line 2543, and Kevin Jochems (NED) finished fifth.
Second and third places in the 1.45-metre show jumping class for U25 riders at the Swiss competition went to two young female riders on their Holstein horses: Clarissa van de Helle on Contador-Casall (Silke Zuba, Wesselburen), line 730B, and Elin Ott (SUI). They were followed by Clintana E by Clinton-Contender (Hermann Erd, Bad Windungen), line 318D1, and Laura Hunziker (SUI).
Robin Naeve is currently competing in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and, of course, his successful horse Casalia R is with him. The Casall-Loran daughter (ZG Redderberg, Ahrensbök), line 1907, has already won a World Ranking show jumping competition here – her rider’s first such victory – and placed over 1.50 metres this weekend.
