A World Cup dressage event was held in Madrid (ESP) this week, at which a Holsteiner mare once again shone: We’re talking about Annabelle by Conteur-Linaro (Günther Fielmann, Schierensee), line 776, who, ridden by Helen Langehanenberg (GER), danced her way to fourth place in the Grand Prix and silver in the freestyle.
“For the fourth time now in our career together, ‘Mausi’ and I have broken the 80 per cent mark – and received a fantastic and, at the same time, highly motivating score sheet: with marks up to 9.0 (including for the harmony between rider and horse),”, wrote Langehanenberg on her Facebook page. “Our ‘Nutcracker’ freestyle, which is packed with the most difficult elements (and for which, incidentally, we received marks of up to 9.8), went down a treat with spectators and judges alike in the World Cup arena in Madrid. Wow, that was great fun!”
Of course, there are also reports of Holsteiner success from the show jumping arena: Catenda (Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), a daughter of Casall Contender from line 2067, and Edwina Tops-Alexander won a 1.45-metre show jumping class in Opglabbeek (BEL). The mare began her competitive career in Germany with Markus Renzel and has been based at Stall Tops since the start of the year; she has already finished third at the CSI5* in Paris, for example.
Two up-and-coming Holsteiners finished fourth in 1.45-metre show jumping competitions: Firstly, Chaka Chaka by Casall-Contender (Daniel Lehmann, Seengen), line 104A, who competed in Madrid with Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann. The other was Uniquo by Uriko-Cancara (Günter Schüder, Barenfleth), line 5054, ridden by Jérôme Guéry (BEL) in Stockholm (SWE).
Scuderia 1918 Quick and Easy by Quick Orion d’Elle-Colman (Raimund Eichert, Ellwangen), line 730B, has established himself as a consistent performer for Giulia Martinengo Marquet (ITA): The mare secured several victories at 1.45-metre level in 2022, for example in Arezzo (ITA) and St Tropez (FRA), and now in Valence, France.
