Holsteiner horses enjoyed success this weekend in the United Arab Emirates, Belgium and the Netherlands:
Long John Silver (Peter Burmeister), a son of Lasino-Corrado I, line 2896, and Jur Vrieling took second place in a 1.50-metre show jumping competition in Abu Dhabi (UAE). Last year, the pair placed in competitions up to 1.60-metre level in Prague and Rome, amongst other venues. In addition, a daughter of Connor won a 1.40-metre competition: Chalina (MV Ladas) was bred by Hans-Peter Petersen (Tating) and changed hands at the Holsteiner Auction in 2019. This representative of line 318D1 is now stabled with Humaid Abdulla Khalifa al Muhairi (UAE).
In Thermal (USA), the Quick Star-Lucky Lionell daughter Quitana (Abdel Aziz el Morabit, Vienna), line 2230, and Keri Potter (USA) emerged victorious in a 1.55-metre class. The class had a total prize fund of over 138,000 dollars. A Holsteiner also took second place: For Gold by For Fashion-Heraldik xx (Georg Clausen, Rabenkirchen), line 162, and Alec Lawler (USA) finished second.
Brian Walker (CAN) was in the saddle on Cleopatra by Quick Star-Calato (ZG Selutels, NED), line 173, when she won a difficult show jumping class at the CSI1* in Exloo (NED). The twelve-year-old grey mare had previously competed internationally under Laura Kraut (USA), and the Canadian rider has high hopes for her.
In the Grand Prix of the CSI2* in Opglabbeek (NED) over 1.45 metres, two Holsteiners were among the top ten, including the Belgian-registered association stallion Million Dollar. Elysium by Zirocco Blue-Coronado (Manfred Tummes, Ruhr), line 4539, came fifth with Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER). Also sired by Zirocco Blue is the association stallion Zuccero (MV Caretino, line 4539), bred by Hanno Köhnke in Badendorf. Rolf-Göran Bengtsson was in the saddle; the Swede rode the grey to sixth place in the Grand Prix after finishing third in the qualifier. Million Dollar and his new rider Sophie Hinners (GER) came tenth.
Dressage
Following Devanto by De Chirico-Lorentin (Holger Wesselmann, Kellinghusen), Line 49, and Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén (SWE) had already won a Grand Prix in Wellington (USA) just a few weeks ago, the pair have now confirmed their current top form with a second-place finish and a score of over 70 per cent in the top-tier class.
