Uricas v/d Kattevennen by Uriko-Cassini I (Otto Boje Schoof, Hedwigenkoog), line 1916, an outstanding jumper, secured bronze in the Rolex Grand Prix at the Dutch Masters in ’s-Hertogenbosch (NED). In the saddle, of course, was Harrie Smolders (NED). “Uricas jumped fantastically and this was his first competition after the winter break – I’m really looking forward to the outdoor season,” said the delighted bronze medallist.
Herning (DEN) proved to be an excellent venue for Holstein horses and their riders last weekend: Zuccero HV (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), a son of Zirocco Blue and Caretino, line 4539, and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (SWE) took second place in the 1.50-metre jumping class with a jump-off. In this class, Quality Time by Quadros-Carpaccio (Manfred Jessen), line 2067, ridden by Christian Hess (GER), came fourth. Greece by Mylord Carthago-Quinar (Margit Petersen), line 3401, and Teike Carstensen came fifth.
Caillan by Casall-Carry, ridden by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, won the 1.45-metre show jumping class. The representative of line 18A2 was bred by Gerd Ohlsen on the island of Föhr and, in his still-young career, has already claimed the titles of German Champion and World Champion for young show jumpers. Be Aperle VA by Clarimo-Concerto II (Manfred von Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 328, and Diarmuid Howley (IRL) also rounded off the competition in Herning with a victory in a 1.45-metre show jumping class.
At the top of the podium in the prize-giving ceremony for another difficult course were Singu by Singulord Joter-Parco xx (Dr Hansjörg Andresen, Simonsberg), Line 13A, and Hans-Thorben Rüder (GER). Among other achievements, the gelding had won the Hörup Grand Prix last year. Stenvangs Daiquiri by Helenenhof’s Catoo-Clarimo (Theresa Dueholm Petersen/DEN), line 5819, and Christian Jansen (DEN), secured silver in this class.
