This weekend saw numerous successes for Holsteiners around the world in the three disciplines of show jumping, eventing and dressage:
Scuderia 1918 Calle Deluxe claimed two victories in St Tropez. The son of Cesano II out of a Con Air dam (Karl Ernst Kruse-Sönke), line 18B1, and Giulia Martinengo Marquet (ITA) won a 1.45-metre class and a 1.50-metre course in France this week. Volkert Naeve had previously taken the bay horse to international level.
Sergio Alvarez Moya (ESP) has recently taken the reins of the former Bundeschampioness Charisma HS by Uriko-Cassito (Christoph Schmidt, Ober-Mörlen), line 503. Richard Vogel had trained the mare from her early successes right through to international maturity. He took over the training of the Uriko daughter, owned by former Olympic rider Hugo Simon, at the start of 2019 and rode her to the title of Bundeschampionesse that same year. She has now concluded her first competition under her new rider with a victory in the 1.40-metre show jumping class in Oliva (ESP).
Alongside her Global Champions Tour winner Con Quidam by Quinar-Cardino (ZG Bröcking, Borken), line 1446, Sanne Thijssen has another promising Holsteiner in her stable: Zeppelin Blue by Zirocco Blue–Ramiro Z (Peter Schröder, Schwesing), line 4847, aged nine, who won a 1.40-metre show jumping class in Oliva (ESP).
Eventing
The eventing season is drawing to a close. A four-star long-course competition with a Nations Cup was held in Boekelo, the Netherlands. Silver and bronze went to horses from the ‘land between the seas’: JL Dublin by Diarado-Canto (Volker Göttsche-Götze, Groß Buchwald), line 1907, and his new rider Tom McEwen finished their second competition together in second place on the basis of their dressage score. The former Holsteiner auction horse had joined the British rider after his previous rider, Nicola Wilson – the pair had won, amongst other things, double gold at the 2021 European Championships in Avenches (SUI) – was forced to end her career following a riding accident. Third place in the CCI4*-L class went to Dacapo by Diarado-Canturo (ZG Bock, Schülp), line 8805, and Laura Collett (GBR). The pair had, for example, won this year’s four-star event in Millstreet.
Dressage
Aperol, a son of Ampère and Aljano, and Juliane Brunkhorst produced promising results in the dressage arena in Schenefeld. The bay was bred by Heidi Blohm (Hamburg) and belongs to line 8797. Just outside Hamburg, the pair triumphed in both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special.
