At the Maimarkt Competition in Mannheim (GER), the Swiss team finished in second place behind Germany. The Swiss team also included Chicharito by Casalito-Quo Vados I (Karl-Heinz Knudsen, Pellworm), Stamm 741, and Adrian Schmid. The rider had initially decided to rest the grey for the second round, after his team-mates had already completed three clear rounds in the first round. And the tactic paid off – the pair remained clear as the final riders and thus secured silver ahead of France and Sweden.
In Opglabbeek (BEL), Con Quidam RB by Quinar-Cardino (ZG Bröcking, Borken), line 1446, achieved his next success with Sanne Thijssen. The now 19-year-old finished second in a 1.55-metre show jumping competition.
At the Global Champions Tour leg in Shanghai (CHN), Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER) secured sixth place in a 1.50-metre show jumping competition. Here, she rode High Level by Livello-King Milford xx (Jens Hauschildt, Seester), line 95. The mare now also bears the ‘Iron Dames’ suffix for Meyer-Zimmermann’s Global Champions Tour team, just like Zoe Blue BTH by Zirocco Blue-Colman (Hans Peter Petersen, Tating), line 3317, who competes under the saddle of Katrin Eckermann (GER). The mare took second place in the 1.45-metre class in Mannheim. In that same show jumping class, the Barcley son Butterfly Effect (MV. Quinar) finished fourth. Bred by Theresa Vollersen (Sterdebüll), line 318D2, this bay also competed in the Nations Cup in Mannheim with Urh Baumann (SLO), though unfortunately recorded two knockdowns there.
Eventing
As expected, the start to the season for Nickel by Numero Uno-Lorentin I (Hindrick Stüvel, Rosengarten), line 4303, with Julia Krajewski (GER) went superbly: In Pratoni del Vivaro (ITA), the successful pair took second place in the four-star event. Krajewski had spent the winter months in Italy with several of her horses, including, of course, her Olympic horse Nickel, and had evidently found ideal conditions there for her pre-season preparations.
