Several major competitions took place over the Whitsun weekend. Numerous riders and horses from the Land between the Seas had travelled to neighbouring Martofte in Denmark. Niclas Aromaa (FIN) rode Cascalinus by Cascadello I-Acolord, line 104A, bred by Prof. Dr Hartwig Schmidt (Borsfleth), to third place in the 1.55-metre Grand Prix. In the qualifier (1.50 metres), Pheline Ahlmann and Carlton SR by Cascadello I-Contender (Stefan Ratajczak, Leipzig), line 318D2, also took second place. There was also a Holsteiner one-two for Mathies Rüder and Flora V by Cascadello I-Acobat II (Jan Verhagen, Netherlands) as well as Arne van Heel (NED) and Chezarro by Casall-Conteur (Gebriele Kowalski, Stadum), line 1298, who had previously won another 1.40-metre show jumping competition in Martofte.
In Aachen, a scaled-down programme took place under the name ‘TsCHIO’ due to the World Equestrian Games being held in August. Several Holsteiners were also in the line-up here. Marcus Ehning and Flower Girl by Hickstead-Catoki (Michale Szadowski, Elk), line 628B, finished sixth in the Prize of CHIO Aachen CAMPUS (1.50 metres).
Grzegorz Nowak (POL) and Kaskada by Action Breaker-Cassini I (Franz Becker, Metelen), line 8789, returned home to Budapest (HUN) with the gold ribbon. They triumphed in a 1.45-metre show jumping class.
