Holsteiner Results: Victories in Vilamoura, Oliva, Kronenberg and more

It was a veritable shower of gold medals in tough competitions this weekend for Holsteiner horses and their riders. In Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy, for example.

Vilamoura in Portugal is a lucky venue for Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) and his Casall son Cochello: The grey, out of a Cartani dam (Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), line 1298, has won the Grand Prix up to 1.55 metres here four times in the space of a year.

Under the Spanish sun, Lireu by Legolas-Landgraf I (Hans Dietrich Wree, Hochviöl), line 5964, and the Swiss rider Niklaus Schurtenberger won the Grand Prix in Oliva over 1.50 metres. This year, the bay horse has also placed at this level in Bratislava (SVK) and Milan (ITA), amongst other venues.

In the Netherlands, Charlie – bred by Timm Peters (Bargenstedt) – and Mans Thijssen (NED) celebrated a double victory: The son of Casall-Corofino I represents line 6786 and emerged victorious in two 1.45-metre show jumping classes in Kronenberg.

Chilli by Crunch-Alcatraz (ZG Lüneburg, Hetlingen), line 8763, and Luca Maria Moneta (ITA) emerged victorious in a 1.45-metre show jumping competition in Gorla Minore (ITA). Second place also went to a horse with Holsteiner pedigree: Dialina by Diarado-Casall (Klaus-Peter Wiepert, Neuratjensdorf), line 18A2, was ridden by the Swiss rider Pierre Kolly.

At the German Masters in Stuttgart, two Holsteiners each took third place in the 1.55-metre show jumping: One was Uricas v/d Kattevennen by Uriko-Cassini I (Otto Boje Schoof, Hedwigenkoog), line 1916, ridden by Harrie Smolders. The other was Zypria S by Canturo-Lux Z (Julius-Peter Sinnack, Bocholt), line 4025, ridden by Sophie Hinners (GER).
