Holsteiner Results: Victories in Portugal and the Netherlands

In Vilamoura, Portugal, Sven Gero Hünicke from Fehmarn claimed victory in the 1.45-metre Grand Prix riding Mastermind RL, bred by Rasmus Lüneburg (Hetlingen). The gelding by Mylord Carthago-Alcatraz is sired by none other than Leica (line 8763), with whom Rasmus Lüneburg himself enjoyed great success in 1.60-metre classes.

Grace Kelly and Joy Lammers (NED) were the winners of the Grand Prix in Kronenberg (NED). The daughter of Casall out of a Carthago dam (Edwin Enzerink/NED), line 318D2, comes from a mare line with a distinguished sporting pedigree: she is the full sister of Cinca, with whom Michael Duffy won silver for Ireland at the 2023 European Championships in Milan (ITA).

Also competing in the Netherlands this weekend were Monaco by Cassini II-Contender (Ralf Lütje, Haseldorf), line 429, and Harrie Smolders (NED). In a 1.50-metre course in Maastricht, the bay finished fourth.

At the five-star World Cup event in Verona (ITA), several Holsteiners picked up prizes: Camilla van de Helle by L.B. Crumble-Casall (Klaus Thiedemann Oesterwurth), line 2543, and Kevin Jochems (NED) came fifth in a 1.50-metre show jumping class. In addition, C Vier by Cardento-Concorde (Wilma Wolters, Groningen), line 49, and Isabella Russekoff (ISR) took sixth place over 1.55 metres. Coolio by Casalito-Quidam de Revel (Martina Wirtz, Hohenzieritz), line 2067, and Marcus Ehning (GER) remained clear throughout both the main round and the jump-off of another 1.55-metre show jumping class, finishing fourth. Elysium by Zirocco Blue–Coronado I (Manfred Tummes, Mühlheim), line 4539, and Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) finished sixth in this class.

At the four-star World Cup competition in Toronto, Canada, Bardolina by Clarimo out of Landos I (Ute Jürgensen, Sehestedt), line 671, and Mario Deslauriers (CAN) took silver in the 1.55-metre class. The Connor-Corofino II daughter Corsica X (Ehrich Westphal, Stipsdorf), line 4564, and Rene Dittmer (GER) also finished sixth. Thanks to Corsica X, the rider from Lower Saxony now provisionally leads the World Cup rankings for the Western European League following his highly successful tour of the USA.
