A Holsteiner trio dominated in Italy: in Bedizzole, Zensation by Zirocco Blue-Clarimo (Albert Klos, Michelbach), line 1120, won a 1.45-metre show jumping class. The gelding was sold at the Holsteiner Auction in 2019 and is now enjoying success under Elisabeth Meyer. Second place in this class also went to a Holsteiner mare: Carlesta by Casall-Corrado I (Joachim Jürgens, Bollbrügge), line 42B, the top horse of Mathies Rüder from Fehmarn. Taking the bronze was the former Holsteiner Auction horse Kannantos by Kannan-Casiro (Johannes Wijngaarden, Netherlands), line 318D2, ridden by Giacomo Casadei (ITA).
Kristaps Neretnieks (LAT) is riding Quintair by Quintero-Con Air (Torsten Gripp, Willenscharen), line 8803. Together, the pair won a 1.45-metre course in Herning. Comthago VDL by Comme il faut-Carthago (Wilhelm Kochs, Eschweiler), line 3697, took fourth place with Hessel Hoekstra (NED). Fifth place went to the former Holsteiner State Champion Tiepolo by Toulon-Cassini I (Jürgen Böge, Bunsoh), line 7492, and Hannes Ahlmann.
The Holsteiner Verband stallion Keaton HV also enjoyed great success in Herning at the weekend: the son of Kannan-Contendro I (Rudolf Schmitt, Wöhrden), line 4539, took fifth place in the 1.50-metre Grand Prix. Arne van Heel (NED) was in the saddle. Catelly by Catalido-Ephebe For Ever (Wulf Hinrich Hamann, Ammersbek), line 242, and Marco Kutscher came sixth. The gelding began his competitive career in Schleswig-Holstein under the breeder’s daughter, Linn Hamann.
In another 1.50-metre course, the winner was once again Caillan: The Casall-Carry son was bred by Gerd Ohlsen (Föhr), line 18A2, and went on to become State and National Champion as well as World Champion; he has now long since established himself in top-level competition under Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (SWE).
